Performance Factors

Various technical aspects affect the performance of your account on Sales Layer, and the processes related to it such as e-commerce synchronizations and content exportations.

These are the main ones:

  • Number of references
  • Number of fields
  • Amount of languages and the number of multi-language fields
  • Amount of forms/families created
  • Number of associated categories with each product
  • Formulas applied to exportations and importations
  • Active processes and the regularity of their synchronization
  • Generation of backup copies

That’s why it is important to consider that performance doesn’t only depend on variables like the number of references that we have in our account.

Warning: For example, an account with 500K simple form references with few fields can perform better than one containing only 50K but that has 1K of fields, languages, and products associated with numerous categories that complicate internal queries.

It is important to be aware, of each of these features and the effects that adding complexity to our project can have. If we create more forms/families than we need, or multi-language fields that may not have a use yet, we will unnecessarily affect the performance and our needs; if we associate a reference with too many categories, we also add complexity. Therefore, we should organize our categories keeping their purpose in mind, and assess the feasibility of simplifying them. The same is true for formulas in an output connector: their effect on performance can be minimal, but multiplied by thousands of references and with numerous formulas, can end up being significantly penalized compared to a simpler configuration.

Lastly, regarding the account’s active processes and the regularity in which they are scheduled, it is possible to configure, for example, the import connectors at a time when there are no other activities to free us from the sum of processes or make a backup copy when the company has less activity, avoiding blocking the work of the account users.

Tip: If you run an import through the connector and a manual import, at the same time. This can affect the performance of the platform and make it slower.

The combination of all of the above-mentioned factors is affecting the performance of your account. The Sales Layer system is accustomed to very high process loads and it is constantly being optimized, but it is always advisable to look for the most optimal configuration.

Tip: If you have any questions, when it comes to assessing the effects of a certain configuration, you can contact us through the usual channels, or contact the partner in charge of the account.
