Recommendations for Project Management

In this section, we will show you how to use your Sales Layer account correctly, to ensure it works optimally and to get the most out of your PIM without complications. To this end, it is important to take into account the following aspects:

  1. Understand what a PIM is: you may review this here.
  2. Understand what Sales Layer does and does not do: know your support options, where to find the documentation you need, and the training, that is included in your contract. As Sales Layer provides tools to facilitate integration, there may be some confusion, as to the limit between the tool and its support. Sales Layer is the PIM, the platform where you work with the information, edit it, etc. From the platform, you can download a plugin to connect to Magento, PrestaShop, or WooCommerce... but as soon as we cross the connector line, Sales Layer will not be able to obtain the necessary information to know what is happening in that third-party software it is connected to.
  3. Get to know the platform in depth/Use the Support Center as a source of knowledge. This is the only way you will be able to work efficiently and with the various features that the platform provides to edit quickly and comfortably, for example, working from the Actions Bulk Actions.
  4. Plan the use of specialists: The company must be very clear about its objectives and know how to communicate them directly. You should try to be in regular communication, with both; the person in charge of your Sales Layer account and the Partner, in case, it will be managed by a specialist. If the user has no experience in integrations or needs to implement an e-commerce site with specific requirements, there is nothing better than an experienced partner. This is someone who knows Sales Layer, and the characteristics of the e-commerce site and helps you save in terms of margin of error, time, and cost.

Tip: if you need assistance, do not hesitate to contact our support team through the usual channels.

  1. Set up the role of the PIM Manager: a project manager or PIM manager who has good communication with the partner who manages the account or with the Customer Success Manager is essential to the success of the project. Additionally, this person should contribute to the definition of configuration aspects such as user permissions.
  2.  Ensure you have backup copies and consider these factors: depending on the complexity of the account, this backup may take longer, so it’s better to do it when there aren’t many users working on it. Once the backup has been made, if something goes wrong, you can restore the entire account to its previous state, taking into account how this may affect the work done since the last backup. If you need to recover the data created after that last backup before completing a new one, you can check the Time Layer Backup Copies section and discover a very useful trick.
  3. Use the quality report: keep track of those fields that are not filled in and edit the references easily from the Sales Layer’s edit mode. You may review its full potential in the corresponding section.
  4. Always, keep in mind, the constraints that may affect performance to make the best use of the platform.
