FAQs about Versioning

  1. How do I know if my connector is up to date?

    R. You can verify the API version your connector is compatible with by checking the Activity Register tab in your Sales Layer connector. This report includes the Shopify API version being used. However, the internal version of the connector (v1.Y.Z) is managed by Sales Layer and is not directly visible to clients. If you have doubts, please contact the Customer Success team.

  2. What should I do if Shopify sunsets an API version?

    R. You don’t need to take immediate action unless notified. Sales Layer monitors the Shopify API lifecycle and manages connector updates accordingly. If your connector is using a version that is about to be deprecated, our team will contact you and initiate a controlled migration to ensure continued compatibility and performance.

  3. Can I test a new connector version without affecting my live store?

    R. Not at the moment. The current versioning model is closed and centrally managed by Sales Layer. However, future evolutions may include the possibility to test connector versions in a staging environment or under controlled conditions. If you have a specific use case, we encourage you to discuss it with your Sales Layer contact.

  4. What happens if my custom app lacks the required permissions?

    R. If your custom app in Shopify is missing mandatory permissions for a given connector version, synchronization will fail or behave unexpectedly. In these cases, Sales Layer will provide you with a list of required permissions to update in the app configuration. The connector also validates this during setup or migration. Make sure your app is always kept up to date with the necessary scopes.
