Categories

In Shopify, they are called Collections and have two types: manual and automated. The channel can only create manual collections. To use automated ones, categories cannot be sent by the Sales Layer channel, as they use selection conditions to automatically include matching products.

Variants

They are not mandatory. The channel only sends them when at least one attribute is added in the connector’s variant configuration. Due to Shopify limitations, a product can have up to 100 variants with a maximum of 3 attributes.

SKU

The channel uses this concept as a key field to find products and variants in Shopify; therefore, there must not be duplicate SKUs.

Metafields

They are a flexible way to add and store additional information apart from the standard fields offered by default in Shopify. For details about their management, review the article Metafields.

Related products and variants

Sending related products is allowed, but it is recommended to minimize the number of these values to avoid performance issues during synchronization.
