Product
A Product is the main item in your catalog. It represents the core product concept and usually contains information that is shared across all versions of that product.
Variant
A Variant is a version of a product that changes in a predictable way, such as size, color, capacity, or pack quantity. Variants are linked to a parent product.
- It avoids duplicate content across similar items.
- It keeps shared information in one place, at the product level.
- It makes it easier to manage sellable options consistently, at the variant level.
- It supports clearer exports to channels when each variant has its own identifiers.

Where you see it in Sales Layer
Products are your main catalog entries. Variants are linked to a parent product and are managed under that product, or in a variants table, depending on your setup.
