Setup time
The time required to set up the store can range from one day to three months. This depends on factors such as data preparation, e-commerce customization, additional plugins, server specifications, and the experience of the implementer.
Backup before configuration
If your PrestaShop store is already in production before setting up the channel, make a secure copy or export of all your products to preserve the original data.
Product management
Once the connector is implemented, manage all product information from Sales Layer and avoid doing so from PrestaShop.
Additional services
Sales Layer, as a SaaS product, does not offer professional services such as consulting and integrations. Additional services can be provided through separate agreements with one of our specialized partners.
For any installation, we strongly recommend:
- Have a test or staging environment with the same configurations and external plugins as the production environment. Test the connector before connecting it to production.
- Make sure the implementer also has access to the production server and knows how to configure the plugin and the server where it is hosted.
- Perform initial imports with a small sample of data to allow faster testing.
- Manage all product information in Sales Layer, not in PrestaShop. Changes made in PrestaShop are not sent back to the Sales Layer catalog, except for stock updates, which are recommended to be done directly in the e-commerce.
Other considerations
- Once the connection between Sales Layer and the e-commerce channel is established, all changes made in Sales Layer will be sent to the e-commerce channel.
- The plugin connects to e-commerce simply and generically, taking into account the most vulnerable points and different client cases.
- The plugin is open source, so it can be customized for each environment. Sales Layer is not responsible for customization or its maintenance.
- The generic connection uses the default tables in PrestaShop.
- If these tables are customized, for example by deleting a column or a table manually or through an external plugin, the connection with Sales Layer may not be adequate.
- To change the plugin version, update the module in PrestaShop instead of uninstalling it. Uninstalling the plugin causes all item links between Sales Layer and PrestaShop to be lost.
Warning: The API is configured to send all changes made in Sales Layer, even when they are not included in the connector filters. For example, if a connector exports only visible items and invisible or draft products are modified, the API will return these changes and send them as “Deleted”, which disables the items in the e-commerce.
