Recommendations

Setup Time

The time required to set up the store can range from one day to three months, depending on factors such as data preparation, e-commerce customization (including additional plugins), server specifications, and the experience of the implementer.

Backup Before Configuration

If your PrestaShop store is already in production before setting up the channel, it is advisable to make a secure copy or export of all your products to preserve the original data.

Product Management

Once the connector is implemented, it is advisable to manage all product information from Sales Layer, avoiding doing so from PrestaShop.

Additional Services

Sales Layer, as a SaaS (Software as a Service), does not offer professional services such as consulting and integrations. Additional services can be provided through separate agreements with one of our specialized partners.

For any installation, we strongly recommend:

  • Having a test or staging environment with the same configurations (external plugins) as the production environment. It is necessary to test the connector before connecting it to the production environment.
  • Ensuring that the implementer also has access to the production server. The implementer should know how to configure the plugin and the server where it is hosted.
  • Performing initial imports with a small sample of data to allow for quicker testing.
  • Managing all product information in Sales Layer, not in PrestaShop. Modifications made in PrestaShop are not propagated to the Sales Layer catalog, which could lead to inconsistencies in product information (except for stock updates, which are recommended to be done directly to the e-commerce).

Other Considerations

  • Once the connection between Sales Layer and the e-commerce channel is established, all changes made in Sales Layer will be sent to the e-commerce channel.
  • The plugin connects to e-commerce simply and generically, taking into account its most vulnerable points and the different personal cases depending on the clients.
  • The plugin is open-source, allowing it to be customized to fit the specific customizations of each environment. However, keep in mind that Sales Layer is not responsible for the customization and its maintenance. Given the above point, the generic connection of our plugin uses existing default tables in PrestaShop.
  • In case of customization in these tables, such as the deletion of a column or even a table (manually or through an external plugin), the connection with Sales Layer may not be adequate.
  • To change the plugin version, it is recommended to update rather than uninstall the module in PrestaShop. Uninstalling the plugin will cause all item links between Sales Layer and PrestaShop to be lost, as reinstalling the plugin will not reflect some changes (namely, changing the product status to draft/invisible) in PrestaShop.

Warning: Our API is configured to send all changes made in Sales Layer, even if they are not included within the connector's filters. For example, if we configure a connector to export only visible items and modify invisible or draft products, the API will return these changes and send it as “Deleted”, which disables the items in the e-commerce.
