Understanding the Parent-Child Data Model
A Parent-Child data model is a structured way of representing products with variations.
For example: a shirt available in sizes S, M, L, and in colors Blue or Black.
- The Parent is the base product
- The Children are the specific variants
- All children share the same Parent SKU
- Each variant has its own attributes (e.g., Size = M, Color = Blue)
Most marketplaces require this structure so that all variations appear together under a single product listing.
